Customer Reviews
I really enjoyed my stay at the El Mono Motel. I took a lot of time choosing a place because I am a light sleeper, and I know the highway gets quite a lot of big rig and truck traffic. I also looked at many reviews and saw that other places that had lake views did not necessarily have helpful staff. So I decided to forgo the lake view. I was very happy when even before I arrived at El Mono, I had a good experience. |The place is so cute, and even though the rooms are very small, they are fine for one person. The whole place is clean and colorful and there is a garden area where people gather in the mornings and early evenings. They make lovely breakfast sandwiches too.
I really love this El Mono motel. There’s a cozy coffee shop in the front and the motel sits quietly in the back. The staff are super energetic and nice — it honestly feels like staying at a friend’s home.||If you’re heading into Yosemite via Tioga Road, this is the closest and most convenient place to stay, and El Mono is definitely the best place. The décor has a warm, artsy vibe that instantly brought me back to the hostels I stayed in years ago in Chiang Mai. The rooms, shared areas, and shared bathrooms are all very clean and even have a pleasant scent.||There are little setups along the hallway for birds to drink and feed. At Latte Da Coffee Café, most of the food is organic and handmade, and everything tastes wonderful. They truly have the best beverages and freshly baked scone!
There’s a lot to like about staying here. Small, clean rooms with a quaint garden area. The cafe has pretty good coffee and excellent food. And the folks there are super friendly. The one drawback is the proximity to the road. If a good night’s sleep is a priority, look elsewhere. During the night, anytime a tractor trailer went by, the building felt like it was shaking and the windows rattled. It was very loud. It felt like an earthquake. I slept awful. If you generally sleep like a rock, then I highly recommend.
This is my favorite place to stay in the Eastern Sierra. It is near the Tufas, shoreline and wild horses of Mono Lake and convenient to birding and hiking in the Sierra and entrance to Yosemite National Park. Traveling solo this time I booked a room with shared toilets and showers and was able to save a bit, but the rooms with private bathrooms are reasonable as well. Coffee and breakfast from their Latte Da Cafe on the porch with the morning sun was and is always delicious. The staff are each nice and welcoming. I wish all the places I stay were as reasonable, comfortable and enjoyable.
The cafe is super adorable! Lots of space outdoors, very sunny pic-a-nic-y vibe, peaceful and gorgeous views everywhere! Drinks were super tasty, we tried their homemade chai and their Mexican espresso (Fuerte), it’s a real kicker but very good and we are now ready for the park! Thank you! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FILLING UP ON GAS before or in Mammoth. Gas is astronomical 🥹
