Hurricane Helene did a number on this place and there is a ton of work being done to it. However, this place is not for everyone. There is a train track that borders the property. Yes, trains do go by and they are loud. There is another train track across the river. Those trains are not that loud. The property is beautiful and you can camp next to the river. There is no sewer there but there is next to the train tracks. There is a small boat ramp. My wife and I had never experienced anything like it. The trains didn't bother us at all. We took a trip to the Cascade Falls Trailhead. It's a two-mile walk from the parking lot. We're 70 and it took us 2 hours to get there. Just for reference.
Small private campground right on the river. It's obvious there was hurricane damage but the owner has made a lot of progress. It was nice to have access to the river. The campground has a launch and is in a natural slow place on the river. We launched kayaks and we were able to paddle upriver to the bridge and down to the first rapid. We did a lot of hiking and found the campground to be located close to several hiking trails. The owner was very responsive and friendly and we spoke at length of future plans. I enjoyed my week long stay and hope to stay there again.
Fun little campground!!!! Located in a beautiful area with great view of the river. Dave was the nicest human I’ve probably ever met. If you hate trains don’t stay here but as a big train fanatic I quite enjoyed it.
We had a nice stay here, right on the river. The man who runs it was very kind and helpful. The site was flat and had electric hookup which was nice. The view of the river and access to it were great! Our daughter loved being able to walk right down to the bank and play while we watched sitting by the fire. The bathrooms were pretty clean and decently stocked. There was a sink for washing dishes which was a nice surprise—though other campers seemed to have clogged it while we were there. They had live music and a shaved ice truck for Father’s Day—a really nice little event to top off a great weekend. A few things to note: There were several ant hills on our site—they didn’t bother us during our stay but it would give once of mind for those to be taken care of. No picnic table at our site a
Clean. Ample size camping sites. Boat ramp to the river. Fishing 🎣 seems well. Fire pit worked great for cooking. Wood 🪵🪓 was readly available there. Little gift shop
