Echo Bay Lower Campground

November 2025 - Nice small campground. Not much of a view of the water. Certainly not "water front". All the water photos erroneously placed here are NOT what you see from the campground!!!! The whole surrounding area makes up for that though. Weather its Valley of Fire or Redstone day use, and the zillions of unnamed extraordinary views, this campground is right there! Theres a couple of toilets here. And a camp host, except Im here during the government shutdown so noone is looking out for the place. Its very quiet except for cars going up and down the road. There are dumpsters at the entrance. I havent seen any water yet. Most of the sites are extremely small. The parking spot is barely big enough for a car. But a few are larger. There's no way you're getting your giant trailer on wheel

Best part about this campground is it's usually not busy. That being said, it has a distinct abandoned campground vibe. The upper campground looks like it's not in service. There is a Rangers office at the top of the hill that appears abandoned. The convenience store closer to the old marina had posted hours but didn't open this morning. Maybe abandoned? Some camp sites don't have a fire ring or have a grill instead of a fire ring. Ours had none so we used a neighboring site. Although the nps website indicates all spots are RV suitable, the camp sites are tight and most wouldn't fit. I would look at satellite imagery and see which ones have a parking space big enough for an RV. The bathrooms are functional (running water and toilet paper) but the lights that are in the building never came

It looks like an abandoned camping area but has running water. Has toilet rooms with toilet paper and sinks. Beautiful views! Convenience store open during the day. The sites are pretty sparse with vegetation but we used our vehicles for shade. Site 10 is a good spot because it is close to the restrooms, it’s elevated and has a good view, and is close to a water spigot which can be used for hand and dish washing.

No privacy, no shade. It’s a good place if you have a tent for shade. Don’t book site 21—it’s right between two roads. The lake is about a 10-minute drive away. There’s a gas station, charger, and store about 8 minutes away. The restrooms were okay, but only had cold water. The view is great. We stayed here to visit Valley of Fire Park, and it worked for us.

Don't forget your sunscreen, because there's not a ton of shade here. Don't forget to look up at the night sky! Thanks to the absence of light all around, you can count the stars. Basic but enjoyable and quiet campground a but rough hike from the lake. Camp host is friendly and helpful. A nice spot to get some reading and writing done. You can swim around the boat launch. Bathrooms have running water, toilets and sinks. Pack in your supplies because services are sparse.
