Eagle Lodge

We've been staying here every summer for at least ten years in a row. We were there again in early July, 2020. The new owners are doing a great job. The place was in need of a lot of deferred maintenance and it's coming along great. There are 10 cabins, right on Lake Superior, not in town so the stars (and sometimes Northern Lights) are amazing. It's not fancy, so go to a fancy hotel if that's what you want. And there's no cell phone coverage (15 minute drive to get to it) and no internet. We love that, but be advised. I stayed here in cabin 4 with my husband and another couple for 4 nights. The cabin was very outdated but we loved staying here. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises, right on Lake Superior and wonderful campfires with neighbors every night. We found the location perfect for getting around and quiet. This place is not for everyone. The decor is extremely old and the bedrooms are small. The beds aren’t great. We loved having an LP and old albums in our cabin. I would stay here again.

The views and location are bar-none; mere feet from the water. The wide open view of the water and sky made for excellent stargazing. Minimal light pollution makes the stars and Milky Way just explode. And the nighttime passing of lake ore freighters, was a sight to behold, too. Those ships are brightly lit from bow to stern.||||I picked cabin 9. It had an awesome rustic, wooden, 1950's feel. It has self catering kitchenette that was fully appointed. You're able to cook up just about anything you'd want. One afternoon, I came back with super fresh Lake Trout and Whitefish; they baked up fabulously.||||Liz, the owner, is so personable and friendly. A true gem. I felt an instant bond. The Eagle Lodge is my family's favorite place to stay. It is secluded, peaceful, tranquil, and so so beautiful. You just know, when going there, that every single other person staying there is a kindred spirit who also loves to sit on the rocks, watching the sunset over Lake Superior. There are so many places to explore, and the cabins are so cozy. We love Liz and we loved Doug, and we love the Eagle Lodge. :-)

What an amazing place! My boyfriend and I stayed in cabin #9 “the rustic cabin” and it was such a comfortable, clean, homey space to spend 5 nights in. Not only did we get surreal views from our windows of Lake Superior, but there were a bunch of places outside our cabin and along the coast to sit, eat, relax, grill, climb along rocks, and have a bonfire. We were warm in our cabin through the chillier nights, and we had all the equipment needed in our kitchen to make home made meals - which we did the majority of our stay. The location is also perfectly in between copper and eagle harbor; must sees if you’re staying up here. Liz is a great hostess, gave us fantastic recommendations, and keeps games and movies in the main lodge to borrow. We’ll definitely be back!
