Customer Reviews
Dames Ferry Campground is another welcoming and well‑kept Georgia State Park. Camping areas, offering a peaceful lakefront escape with all the comforts campers appreciate. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful, creating a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Every campsite is remarkably clean, and the entire property—from the bathhouses to the group gathering areas—is maintained with real care. Families love the playground, open green spaces, and the safe, walkable layout. Many sites offer beautiful views of the lake, perfect for sunrise coffee or evening campfires. Each campsite includes water and power hookups, making it ideal for both tent campers and RV travelers. The campground is also dog‑friendly, so four‑legged family members can enjoy the adventure too.
One of our favorite campgrounds! Always quiet, always clean! Thr hosts are friendly and helpful.
Clean campsites with beautiful views, great sunsets, peaceful. Hosts were very friendly.
Mike and Cheryl here. We have a 44 foot Class A RV. Here is my review of Dames Ferry Campground. Road to: Easy, Drive through Macon just a little busy. Road inside: Paved and in good condition. Trees: All well trimmed. Check in: Small office at entrance. She was friendly. Parking: None, you stop at entrance. Seasonal campers: None. Signage: good Site 10: Gravel pad, but very unlevel. Had table and fire pit. View: Fantastic Site spacing: Very Good Bathhouse: Nice. Laundry room: Nice. Swimming pool: None, they have a lake. Club house: None. Fitness area: None. Grounds: Good. TV: Over air antenna was good. Wifi: None. So here is the bad: Our site was very unlevel, but the view was worth it. I would come back. Dream Big, Travel Far, Live Well...
The first site we had 33 was a top of a hill. It was tight and terrible! So we asked to move. The second site was better BUT tight. We had to ask the guy across from us to move his truck and if it was okay to pull into his site (literally) so we could get in ours. We had to pull in his yard and his wife had to move her chair. Also, when we tried to turn our rig around at the turnaround to move sites, we had to do like a 10 point turn and almost go into the lake. Several people saw and said they had the same problem. We will never be back!!! But it is close to Whistle Stop Cafe! The bathrooms were dated but clean. There is no internet, but there is TV signal. There is highway noise.
