Loud road noise, late arriving noisy guests and less than clean bathroom and shower facilities left more of an impression than the friendly person who greeted us open arrival. |We stayed in Yurk 1, which was as pictured, but it close to Rt. 302 and the road noise was loud enough to wait one from a deep sleep, even after a day long hike of Mt. Washington. And it was pricey. |While we our grateful for our fun family get together, we won't plan to stay at the Crawford Notch Campground again.
It’s really too bad the way this place is so poorly managed. It’s a gorgeous location as long as you get a spot farther from the highway. But we have stayed here multiple times in different years, and there are some persistent issues that management could fix but truly doesn’t care to deal with. Because of this, we will never be back. First, the bath house is poorly maintained. Hot water that you have to pay for is intermittent at best, and these are the most expensive coin-operated showers I’ve ever found. There are lights out that don’t get replaced, soap doesn’t get filled and there are no longer paper towels provided at all. Second, the management does absolutely nothing to enforce quiet hours. Two years straight now we have been in proximity to a campsite full of loud drunken camper
Pros: Beautiful campground, surprisingly quiet compared to other campgrounds I’ve been to, had a site closer to the river area (#41) beautiful view. Purposely stayed away from sites near the road. Long walk to main bathroom and showered though. Porta-potties right behind my site which was convenient for those midnight bathroom trips. Appreciate the cleanliness of sites (if you have a tent, ground is quite hard to drive the stakes in) and the bathrooms were clean, could use better ventilation. Cons: I do not like how you can choose a site online but if you want to “keep” it, you have to pay a lock fee (extra $15 I believe). I booked two sites for family and myself and they just “gave” one of my sites away regardless of me mentioning I have family and the importance of us staying together s
This is a gorgeous campground right off of route 302 near the Wiley House Historical site. During the weekend in fall this place is a mad house with Harley’s and traffic going up and down 302 for the fall leaves. The Harley’s echo through the valley all night. However, on Sunday things quieted down and made for a peaceful nights sleep. I’d still avoid the sites that are right up against the highway. It’s a busy road. Bathrooms were clean. General store was somewhat decently stocked. Didn’t get a chance to walk the trails since I hiked elsewhere. Felt safe as a solo traveler since there was gated entry to the campground. Campsite was private and couldn’t see my neighbors. Chemical toilets are port-a-potty. Potable water available throughout the site.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Toilets and showers were clean. Campsites were large. We heard some coyotes which was nice. The staff were friendly and polite. I would recommend for somebody looking to stay to have easy access to the white mountains etc. We will.be back at some point.
