This is one of those places where, even though I'd seen tons of gorgeous images of it before I ever visited...actually being there was still shocking in its beauty. I don't know if there's any way to properly represent just how amazing it is to witness this place in person. Yes, the water really is that blue (MORE blue, in fact). Yes, standing on the rim does feel incredibly grand. And yes, the weather is super fickle and you may end up caught in a storm you didn't expect (but it's worth it anyway). I photographed an elopement here a couple years back, and it's still one of the most memorable I've ever been lucky enough to be a part of. The couple ended up with unexpected snow (in mid-September!), and dark, stormy skies with intense winds. But even in those conditions, this place was mag

February visit, cold, windy, lots of snow, good spot for a sequal to The Shining! The day lodge has a comprehensive gift shop, snacks and sodas, upstairs a place to sit was well attended. For some reason I had a hard time determining that the overnight lodging closed in the winter, so there you go. Beautiful outside few people, stay back from the edge, it rolls off to a very long slide across cliffs into a deep and frigid lake.

Crater Lake is honestly unreal. It's the deepest lake in the USA, and because it's filled entirely by rain and snow, the water is a crazy, crystal clear blue that doesn't even look real. Driving the 33 mile Rim Drive gives vou insane views from every angle. If you're feeling brave, hike down to the water for a quick, freezing dip it's a total rush and c perfect Oregon adventure!

Absolutely beautiful!! At least the area we saw was. We were there in mid-October. Most of the Rim Road was already closed due to snow. We were only able to drive as far as the Rim Village Cafe and Gift Shop which is right on the rim. He got there via the west entrance. It was an easy walk from the parking lot to many scenic view points. The lake water was an absolutely beautiful blue. Looking across the crater you'd never guess that it was up to 6 miles across.

We did the Garfield trail and it was truly spectacular! Would definitely recommend some ice grippers for your shoes though in this season, and getting to rim village can be difficult, bring chains as they are required.
