The most important thing to note when staying here is that if you are ordering a rideshare, make sure you give the right address. There is another Courtyard Marriott with a very similar name that's also an airport hotel, so you don't want your rideshare to take you to the wrong hotel (that happened with the group I was with) and you don't want your rideshare to head to the wrong place to get you. I had originally booked this hotel because it's right by the Newark Airport and has an airport shuttle. I ended up flying out of JFK instead, which is almost 2 hours further and cost $85 via Uber. I ended up keeping this hotel since it was close to Prudential Center and it worked out well as I stayed in the hotel room to wait out the rain before heading to Prudential Center and had the room to ta
Overall, my stay at this hotel was fairly decent. If I had to critique anything, it would be the checking in process with the staff. The member that checked me and didn’t have the most welcoming energy. I also noticed that I had to request water bottles that I saw them giving to other elite status members, but didn’t offer me one and I too am an elite status member (Platinum Elite to be specific). There were other details that I encountered during my check-in process that didn’t necessarily sit right with me. This property is usually my last resort because this isn’t the first time that I received unwelcoming energy when checking in. It’s still served his purpose with giving me a warm place to stay for the night.
this hotel needs updating and some repairs. Broken doors at the elevator shaft, a sign posted that there would be no hot water for one day of our stay, and some stains in the bathtub are some examples. The lighting is dim and depressing & the carpet seems dingy. They weren't serving dinner when we were there, I am not sure why. Ordered food delivered & the front desk just let the delivery person come up the elevator & knock on our door. That seems like a safety issue? The bright sides: There's a free airport shuttle, which got my party to the airport in less than 10 minutes for a 6 am flight, The linens were clean and crisp and the front desk person was nice. Since my main goal was to be near the airport for a very early flight, this did the job. But I will try to find somewhere else if
We enjoyed our stay for the most part. Bathroom was clean, room SEEMED to be clean until we discovered trash between the bed and nightstand (little kids will find EVERYTHING). It's nice that there's a Starbucks in the lobby. The "Bistro" food was very underwhelming and kind of put us off. Wife and I ordered chicken Ceasar salads as that seems like a petty safe option. However, the chicken reminded us of lunch meat and just didn't taste right. Kids split a burger and fries which were better. Rooms have balconies which is cool, unfortunately they do not get cleaned and need to be majorly power washed. They were the only thing I would say was disgusting. Front desk staff was overall pleasant, but certainly seemed like they couldn't care less when we were checking out and told them
At 1:30 am fire alarms went off - front desk staff said "it's nothing, go back to your rooms". The alarms went off for 15 more minutes. Total lack of care or compassion. Paid for a full night and got 2 hours of sleep. Hotel is beaten and old - needs money dumped in to improve broken doors and worn out facilities. If I could give 0 stars I would.
