Courtyard by Marriott Montvale

⭐️ 1 Star – False Smoking Charge + No Manager + Zero Customer Service I’ve stayed at a lot of Marriott properties over the years, and this was easily one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Last night, this Courtyard Marriott in Montvale hit us with a $550 “smoking/vaping in the room” charge — except none of us smoke. None of us vape. Not even remotely. We were shocked. The only logical explanation is that their “detector” got triggered by basic hair products / aerosols (which happens all the time in hotels), but instead of using common sense, they immediately jumped to slapping a massive fee on our card like we committed a crime. When we went down to the front desk to dispute it, it got even worse: • No manager available • Refused to call a manager • Refused to let us speak to anyone w

Stayed for one night for a big event. My room had two beds, one was never cleaned had hair all on the sheets. Walls are very thin and can hear everything from the rooms next door. Attached restaurant said it was open and it was not. The front desk was friendly but you have to pay $15 to park your car. Not worth staying there. Will find another hotel next time.

My daughter in law and I stayed here in November 2025 with my standard poodle. We chose this hotel because it was listed as “pet friendly.” We were in the area to visit family who live nearby. The room was nice, well appointed and quiet. Because we had a pet with us they put us in a 1st floor room near the back door. Easy to get in and out with the pup. Good nighttime lighting in the parking lot and plenty of room to walk the dog. |I always pick up after my dog, but the hotel made this difficult, as there is no outside trash can near the door. So I had no choice but to bring the bagged poop inside and put it in the trash can in our room. Gross. |The first morning we went to the lobby and requested that they provide an outside trash can. We were wrongfully charged $550 for “smoking” in our room when we did not smoke at all. When we tried to address it, there was no manager available and no real help from the front desk. This feels like a cash grab, not hospitality. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere unless you’re okay with arbitrary fees and zero accountability.

Positive: Location and staff were great! Negative: The sound heard from rooms next to us (we were all in 3 different rooms away from each other reporting the same) was crazy. You could hear every word of every conversation, especially in bathrooms.
