Courtyard by Marriott Buffalo Downtown/Canalside

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed like part of the family. The lady at the front desk greeted us with such genuine enthusiasm, she kindly upgraded our room and gave us water and some chocolates. She was so friendly with my 3 year old son, and even gifted him a cuddly buffalo toy which was a really thoughtful gesture which meant a lot. Our room was excellent: large, clean and very modern. There were 2 separate TVs which is ideal when travelling with a toddler! The beds were large and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the toiletries were lovely with eucalyptus and lavender - it felt like a spa! The bar serves Starbucks coffee which is a nice touch! Very impressed with this hotel and would certainly recommend if staying in this area.

Heat in our room wasn't working at 1:30 am. Keith was responsive and although he couldn't get the heat to work, he supplied us with a couple heating towers. We were also given a discount on our final bill due to our inconvenience, which we greatly appreciated. Also, we waited quite awhile to order our breakfast (Starbucks). Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay at this hotel again in the future.

Our hockey team was treated incredibly well by all hotel staff, from assisting with a door lock situation to making sure the team had a place to play that was not disruptive to the other guests. In addition, Hailey went above and beyond for our kids. We had ordered delivery that never arrived, and it was very late and the kids had not gotten any dinner. She went and turned the ovens back on in the Bistro Bar, and made sure they had flatbread pizza and french fries before going to bed. It was incredibly kind and appreciated. The customer service at Courtyard by Marriott Buffalo Downtown/Canalside was top notch!

Positive: Right next to train station and free metro to Theatre district. Naval Yard museum and Key bank center as well as Buffalo Iron works 5 minute walks. Was very clean and quite secure. Negative: Very rude check-in; person stated amenities and whatever she was required to say in less than 30 seconds; not very welcoming. Canal side room extra $$ was not worth it, as there was really no view. Seems quite pricey for what you get.

Would not stay here again unless I was going to a game. First the hotel restaurant was supposed to be open until 8, there isn't much around and it was very icy out. We went to the restaurant at 715 and were told they were closed. Great. Second there is one restaurant you can walk to and anything else you'd have to uber or drive to. Check in, the woman acted like she just didn't want to be there. Asked about our upgrade, which I'd used a platinum certificate on, and we got a slightly larger room, on the second floor, overlooking the parking lot.... Great. Overall room was nice enough. Modern but still fairly small. We've stayed at many places in Buffalo, I'd take the Westin or aloft before this one if I want to be downtown. Wouldn't stay again. Especially if you're expecting an
