Country Motel

Bring extra toilet paper with you to this Motel and don't forget tissues because neither are supplied. The showers provide a dribble of water unless you want to take a completely cold shower. The mattresses are encased in plastic which is good to prevent bed bugs but if you move they crinkle. And do bring air freshener with you the rooms have a very musty smell.

We stayed here for 1 night and were very disappointed. My only expectation was that it would be clean however this was not the case. We arrived before checkin so we were given the key to our room (#14) which was in the process of being cleaned. When we got back to the room after 8pm, we found our room smelled like a combination of garbage with undertones of bad meat, and a very strong plugin air freshner. The A/C wasn’t on so it was pretty stuffy as well. The water out of the sink faucet was brown as was the toilet water. Surprising, the shower was clean with clean hot water. The only other plus was that the mattresses were covered with plastic. My advice would be to not stay here if possible but if necessary, check your room out before you pay. My Honey and I drove to upstate NY to pick up our new puppy and this motel was recommended as there are not many in the area. The owner Wayne was very friendly and accommodating. There were two rooms with queen beds, mini fridge, microwave and extra cot. The dark wood paneling was quite retro and the overall look needed upgrading. The mattress in our room needed replacing but for one night we dealt with it. For $78.00 a night I would have at least expected some paper coffee cups, coffee or tea bags and a hairdryer would have been nice. Wifi was sketchy at best and kept cutting off. The rugs could use a good cleaning but the bathroom was very clean and the towels and facecloths were clean, fluffy and smelled fresh!

If I could rate lower than one star, I would. When I opened the door to room 12 I was hit in the face with the most hideous smell. It smelled like a mix of cigarettes and cat pee. I turned on the a/c and hoped that would help draw out some of the stench. The room needed toilet paper, soap, and towels so I stopped back at the front office. I complained about the smell and explained there was no way I’d be able to sleep there with my family. All the manager (owner?) did was offer an air freshener. When I returned to the room after being away for several hours it was evident that someone came and sprayed air freshener. It didn’t help in the slightest. The room then just smelled like smoke, cat pee, and air freshener. It was so bad I couldn’t sleep there, especially with my asthmatic daughter.

Was booked into this motel by a third party on a business trip. Very clean appearance on exterior, owner of motel was very pleasant and had reservation info all handy upon checking in, took less than 5 minutes. Rooms a little dated but were clean. Included a microwave and fridge, cable TV, no tub in my room, just a stand up shower which was fine with me, free local calls. Quiet area, closest small town was Sydney New York, about a 3 minute drive or 20 minute walk. Try the Trackside Restaurant for good food, friendly service and excellent prices.
