Copper Queen Hotel

OH MY GOODNESS. What an awful experience. I was so excited to stay here, but it ended up being extremely disappointing. The room was in very poor condition. There was drywall in the bathroom from what looked like a fallen, moldy, wet ceiling, the shower curtain was dirty, and the pillowcases were stained. For the price of the room (over $200), the cleanliness and maintenance were completely AWEFUL. Around 10:30pm, a group of very loud obnoxious guests started playing the piano on the second floor and continued for about 45 minutes. It was unbearable and the front desk was NOT addressing it. I eventually had to get up & tell them to quiet down myself because it was impossible to sleep. I was also disappointed by the “haunted” experience that the hotel promotes. First trip to Bisbee and every recommendation for the town included the Copper Queen hotel so we really did not look at any other options for a hotel. The “haunted” lore and history of the hotel seemed to make it a good choice. In person, hotel is dated and can certainly use some TLC. Elevator was not working and the dining area and saloon were not open nor did it look like they had been used recently. Room (the Julia Lowell -315) was decent and had an interesting backstory (spoiler alert - we had not ghost encounter!) During a ghost tour we had the opportunity to visit a few other hotels in town and they definitely had more charm and appealing amenities. While Historic, there are definitely better options in Bisbee for lodging.

Positive: Wanted to go with the more haunted hotel and gives that feel a 100% but everything else is just bad. Negative: There is no easy parking or ways to drop off bags and check in as the road is very narrow and doesn’t allow parking. The restaurant was $50 for a plain burger and Caesar salad at dinner and they only had 6 menus printed on just plain paper.

I would NOT recommend this Hotel. The Staff I engaged with over the phone and at the Front Desk were WONDERFUL. The facility itself was not. We are actually in the process of disputing charges because we refused to stay there and it goes against their cancellation policy. Awaiting a response. I anticipated a DATED Hotel, I also expect a maintained clean place to stay, especially at their price point We have the right to be comfortable. First impression - Door handle was falling off the bathroom door in the Main Lobby (basic maintenance issues), paper towels were placed on the floor between the sinks to catch the soap that was dripping from the soap dispenser, and I chose to use the toilet that was cleaner than the one with dried feces in the bowl (cleaning issues). Not very impressed. Rooms have a definate odor. No elevator. Cleanliness is sub par. Front desk gal was amazing though. After seeing my room I wanted to find another hotel. Bar & restaurant closed due to water damage so plan to walk for food and drinks. Room was dirty, windows ac unit was moldy and needed cleaned, air poured in though windows. BEWARE.....WISH I WOULD HAVE WALKED OUT OF THIS HOTEL
