Cooper Dam Campground

One of the only places in Wisconsin offering free camping with drinking water on-site. This campground appears to be maintained by a local hunting club in affiliation with the county park system. There’s a large group site popular with hunters that includes a shelter building. There are also half a dozen smaller, more private sites that appear designed for tents or small camper rigs. The smaller sites vary in size and all have at least one picnic table and fire ring; some have two. The campsites here are just outside the national forest. Some of the sites literally have national forest boundary signs behind them. When I visited in late September, the group area was filled with hunters and hunting dogs. The small campsites - offset nicely from the group area - were completely open.

Best place for free ... have yet to stay the full14days.. seems like no matter when I go... June, july aug or September .. it rains at least 1/2 the time I'm there.. this time it rained 9 days outta 11 Crazy skeeters Come prepared But definitely come ... give it a try. The price is right Beautiful river ... potable water, toilets.. plenty of picnic tables and fire rings for all! No cell service ( bonus!!😁)

Very remote and quiet campground. Good for tents, vans, truck campers or small trailers. Lots of shade. Pit toilets, trash cans and hand pump water available. The gravel road is very drivable.

I find this campground by looking on the internet fer free campsites in Wisconsin we are not from this state we're from North Carolina we're staying in Wisconsin temporary I would recommend this to anybody the rivers right there so you can fish, swim nice quiet and secluded my only issue was the toilets are too small and too low to the ground but who cares it was free and we will go back again plus dog friendly

Free campsite along a beautiful river. Facilities include pavilion, outhouses and fire rings. Good fishing off the beaten path and a great nights sleep under a star filled sky.
