Comfort Inn Walcott near Davenport

Reviewing Room #214. On arrival front desk was courteous and helpful. Process went quickly and was able to get some guidance on updating loyalty card info. Room was clean and ready to my stay. Quiet and comfortable. Checkout was just as smooth. Good stopover. Skipped the breakfast offered and went over next door to Grandma's Kitchen instead. Iowa 80 Kitchen is nearby also.

First we reserved a king bed but when we checked in he said he didn’t have any, so we settled for 2 queen, The room smelled horrible, not sure if it was smoke, pets, musty or a combination of all the above but we couldn’t even rest, I just wanted to gag. First thing I noticed beside the stench was the mirror was splattered & not cleaned so it made me Wonder if anything was clean, The carpet looked so gross I refused to walk on it with bare feet. In simple terms we were grossed out. When I went to shower I was happy that the shower looked clean!

The location was convenient. Check in was easy and the desk clerk was polite. The room - another story. The tray that the glasses were on was dirty and had spots on it. There was accumulated dirt and dust in all the corners of the room. Neither of the outlets on the table by the bed worked. There was mildew on the shower wall. The front of the microwave was dirty, and there was still time on the microwave timer, which told me that it had not been checked or cleaned. But the most disturbing thing...I went to use the ice bucket, and there was something nasty in it. At first I thought it was a dead mouse, my husband thought it was a dead bat. Had a great stay here! The room was super clean and cozy, and the complimentary breakfast was delicious — lots of tasty options to choose from. The staff were really friendly and helpful too. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

The room was clean, but it was hard to regulate the heat. The TV also was hard to manage and it quite having a connection about 11 pm. The directions for helped indicated calling an 800 number that was no help. I told the clerk when I checked out and it didn't really seem like he was really concerned about what I told him. I stay here usually twice a year, because of meetings I have in the area. I am not sure I will stay the next time.
