Took a ride out there nice and quiet with QR code audio tour for each building. A few van campers on site and free entrance with a few bathrooms that were clean. Nicely kept history area to roam and take a break and eat

Very nice and not crowded at this visit. Nice restroom facilities. Covered picnic tables. Green grass. Nice walk to visit the museum township.

We really enjoyed this campground and park. We camped in one of the 2 full hook up spots. The spots are huge, paved, and level. We had room to park our 36’ camper and our truck. The bathrooms/showers are very clean if you do choose a spot without hookups. I was surprised there aren’t more people here. Full hookups were $30 a night as of summer 2025. The park is nice too. Many buildings from the original Allensworth have been preserved and have been filled with furniture and things to look like they would have back when the town was “alive”. There are signs and QR codes at each building that will tell you who lived there and what the building was used for. Rangers and maintenance drive through several times a day. It felt very safe.

Very interesting visit. The story of this township is fascinating. Plan on about two hours to stroll and read all the signs. Most buildings have been rebuilt rather than restored, bit you get a good sense of what life was like for the African Americans who choose to live there. Apparently it was a tight knit community where a lot of members contributed funding their time and helping each other out. It's sad that this utopia ended due to a shortage of water. One sign explains that the developer who sold the lots to the four founders did not plan adequately for water needs in this farming area . The other reason was the next that the railroad diverted the traffic, so people no longer had a way of making a living . The rangers on site are very friendly and helpful .

This campground and state park is very clean, the employees are very nice and helpful. The community behind the park is very passionate about making this park better and more exciting to visit in the near future. There is lots of wildlife, clean showers and great building to tours.
