Chippewa Campground

Visited on a quick camping trip from home with the new camper. Almost any site is a good site. Only thing I didn't like was all the the pit toilets were at the end of the camp ground so it was bit of a walk.. we visited the weekend before Halloween and they had a bunch of festivities planned. Trick or treating, site decorating and pumpkin contest. And to top it off they had a free haunted hay ride with actors. What fun. Also at night they showed a movie at the Pavillion with refreshments and popcorn.

A well maintained campground and clean restrooms. Unfortunately, there are no showers. The atmosphere was nice and the fried and grilled food tasted delicious. Oh, by the way, the trails were pretty. I particularly liked the mile markers. For longer walks, it was good to know how much of the trail was left. In multiple places, you would reach the river.

The hosts were extremely helpful and did their job very well. Huge shoutout to the DNR maintenance crew for lending me Kevin. He was very helpful with assisting me in my time of need and explaining how everything worked at the park which was a lot more than I thought it was. Dee did an outstanding job, she was very attentive to the entire park from open to close, she paid attention to everything and anyone’s needs including my own. 10/10 would come back. I have zero complaints.

Primitive but cozy! Beautiful mature trees, well maintained campground. Even though it's considered primitive, there is electricity! My sister and I had a nice relaxing time. You do have to bring your own firewood. Because it's primitive, there are no shower houses. However, the bathrooms were clean and equipped. We didn't have children with us, but it looked like the park consisted of just swings. The hosts were very nice!

Nice campground with friendly hosts. Really pretty local area. Great place to come if looking for a quick drive from the Chicago area.
