Cheyenne River Motel

I’ve stayed here twice. Once last year in March and this year in June. Both times have been healing for my family. Wishing it was under better circumstances but both times I felt at home. I’m an outside urban Indian and I’ve also lived on the reservation. I base my experiences on what I have felt, seen, and heard. My family and I created healing in this space, the staff were welcoming both times. Kind of felt like being a guest in a relatives home! Noise was never an issue with us, I slept like a baby both times. I’m hoping this summer is good to them, hospitality was a blessing!

We came there late on Thursday night for a clinic my son was taking Friday and Saturday. We were booked for 3 nights. His clinic was finished early on Saturday so we requested to check out Saturday instead of Sunday so we could visit other parts of the state. Staff was very accommodating checking us in and had no problem refunding us for Saturday night despite the short notice. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean and when my husband couldn’t get the tv to work the night attendant got us a new one. Would stay here again. All staff was very friendly to us. We enjoyed our stay. My husband works on the road a lot so he has stayed in a lot of hotels and was very happy with this one.

This just may be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and I have travelled extensively, for over 50 years, stayed in literally hundreds of hotels, all over the world. First: the room had two remotes for the TV. I went to the front desk to ask for instructions, i.e Why 2 remotes? The night attendant knew nothing. I determined that only one remote was necessary but it was nearly useless because most of the lettering near the buttons were worn off, not readable. Several times, while trying to watch a program, a warning message would pop up on the screen suggesting a complete loss of signal, then, of course the program would stop. Second: You can hear every noise in every adjacent room. The room next to ours played the TV extremely loud then shut it off at about midnight. Next I could hear

I mean, it's a motel, not a hotel that's probably been built since way before I was born. It's not pleasant to the eyes, but it's better than anything else it did take me a while to figure out how to use the bathroom sink. Growing up here, not many places get updated like cities do We called to make reservations, and they said nayyy I'll just put your name down 🤣 usually in cities, we had to make reservations beforehand. This straight-up made me laugh. Motels in cities are being updated and turned into studio apartments. This is the first time I have been back here in years, and some things didn't change at all

Not clean, kinda ghetto, smelt weird, tv doesn’t work, bathroom is gross so is the beds, there was a bug on the bed, I’ve stayed in better places.
