Chelsea Inn Hotel

I really wanted to like this place, the employees are great and the place is clean and safe. However, I just tried to wash my hands and...no water. I leave my room to ask about it at the front desk (no small feat considering I'm on the 5th floor and there's no elevator) when I see a notice taped to my door saying that the water is shut off from "8pm to tomorrow". Meanwhile, I am in deep need of a shower and also I guess I can't flush my toilet until sometime tomorrow? You most definitely get what you pay for (though, no matter the price of a hotel, I think running water should be a given).

I would not recommend the Chelsea Inn AT ALL! This place is clean and in a good location in Chelsea, but has absolutely nothing else to recommend it. No desk service, no housekeeping during your stay, shared bathroom (which we knew going in), tiny tiny room with double bed and nowhere to put your stuff, and no windows. Completely claustrophobic. And to top it off, we lucked out with the top floor so had to lug our suitcases up 5 flights. It was miserable.

Decent! Not having an elevator is a pain. Also ddnt like having a shared bathroom. They throw all your toilteries if left inside. Generous snacks.

2/22/2026 I booked a room so it will be convenient for me to be at work the following day due to the snow storm. Here are some of the things you might want to consider if you are planning to stay at Chelsea Inn. I stayed at Room 503 Door #2. Pros: The room is very clean. You have regular bath towels, face towels and the towel that you put on the floor to step on after shower, plus one roll of toilet paper. They have coffee to brew, cups to use with coffee maker and a microwave. You also have a small closet to put in some clothes with a Safe to put your valuables in. The place is warm on this winter night, but if it gets too warm, you can always turn on the AC unit to put the room in your desired temperature. This hotel is actually a solid hotel with good ratings, close by to a lot of stuff in NYC, also closed to the subway station which I highly recommend knowing how to use if this is your first time visiting NYC because cabs/uber prices adds up! We saved alot utilizing the subway and it’s part of the NY experience. This hotel has great service it has a fridge and a microwave, a 2 for 1 body wash and shampoo and lotion/hand soap in the bathroom. Not luxurious but it’s a great value with good location in NY
