I stayed at Chateau Merrimack Resort & Spa during the week, and the hotel was extremely quiet—almost too quiet. If you’re looking for uninterrupted sleep and relaxation, this could work for you, but the overall atmosphere felt a bit eerie. The hallways, lobby, and rooms are very dark, and the décor feels straight out of the 1970s, with heavy dark baseboards and ceiling trim throughout, which adds to a slightly “haunted” vibe. The rooms themselves are spacious and clean, but they feel dated. There are no ceiling lights, only table lamps, which makes the room feel dim. The bathroom sink water was noticeably very white, almost as if there was an excessive amount of chlorine. During my weekday stay, there were only about four cars in the entire parking lot, which made the hotel feel deserted
Positive: The Italian Steakhouse onsite was phenomenal, staff was friendly. Negative: The bathroom bath tub did not drain properly, they do not change the sheets during the stay. When I asked hotel housekeeping to change the sheets they said they don’t change bedding until the end of the stay.
USE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE We walked into the hotel around 9 PM on a Saturday night and the place felt like a ghost town. No energy, nobody around, the entire building looked completely dead. You’d honestly think the hotel was abandoned. I will say one positive thing: the guy working at the front desk when we arrived was incredibly nice and helpful. He did his best to deal with our frustration and was very respectful the whole time. Everything else, unfortunately, was downhill from there. The restaurant and bar were already closed at 9 PM on a Saturday, which is ridiculous. There is literally nothing to do in this hotel either. The pool, sauna, and hot tub were all closed at that time, which completely defeats the point of staying somewhere like this late in the evenin
This place was amazing. The building itself gave a lot of "renaissance" vibes. Me and my partner loved it! We were 1 of the 5 guests staying there during our time there and it was heavenly. The staff was extremely attentive to our requests, and it was a very peaceful stay. Although it was off-season, we could tell that this hotel is "THE SPOT" in the summer. We hope to return in the near future and during the warmer months :)
Like a haunted hotel straight out of a horror movie: dark hallways with tasteless décor, plastic flowers, and the like. The spa was a joke — the sauna could only be used if you booked a treatment, something that was not mentioned at the time of booking. The manager was almost triumphant in pointing out that it was supposedly hidden in the fine print, though we searched for it the booking side thoroughly. On top of that, there are signs in the pool area requiring guests to shower before entering, yet the showers are only available to those who booked a treatment. Breakfast was equally disappointing. Only a few dry pastries were offered, and by 9 a.m. everything was already put away. There weren’t enough tables for all the guests, and the ceiling in the so-called breakfast room literally
