Cerrillos Railhouse Guest Casitas

Went for a friend's wedding. Nice setting, if a little on the rustic side. You could easily walk the town in a few hours and then go to Madrid for lunch and window shopping. It does get warm here in the summer and it can be buggy, so be prepared. I'm betting it's nice and dark at night, so I'm contemplating going in September when it starts to cool down. This was the perfect New Mexico getaway - a short drive to Santa Fe for a day of shopping, gallery hopping and dining but far enough away from the crowds for great hikes at the nearby Cerrillos Hills State Park. I stayed in the larger one-bedroom casita.The casita is flooded with light and filled with character, with Satillo tile floors and hand-painted tiles in the fully-equipped kitchen and has its own private patio area. The bedroom is amazing, with cozy bedding and a huge walk-in closet, but the best feature is the stunning view of distant mountains as the sun turns the distant hills pink in the morning and brilliant oranges and fiery reds in the evening. This is a wonderful option for a weekend vacation for Albuquerqueans. My husband and I rode our tandem bike from the 599 RailRunner Station to Cerrillos in an afternoon. The B&B and Cerrillos itself was a quiet, welcoming place, full of the ambiance of northern NM. Jesse, the innkeeper was, as described by others, charming and welcoming, with hospitality beyond expectation. Spring winds had blown against us so we were tired of riding, and although Madrid is only a short ride away, with its many shops and restaurants, Jesse offered to drive to Madrid and bring us back some very lovely food which we enjoyed in our own private casita, with all the finery including beer, frosted mugs, and complimentary cookies for desert. I stayed one night in one of three casitas rented as airbnb stays and it was sparkling clean, quaint and comfortable. The hosts were welcoming and attentive. I hope to return during future travels.

The owners live next door. They greeted us as we left. It's a great place to stay if you want peace and quiet.
