Caribou Shores

My family and I came to Detour Village for Father’s Day weekend to do some salmon fishing in the St Mary’s river and just enjoy being outdoors. When the place we had booked fell through, I found Moosehead on the internet. I called, talked to the owner (who was very nice) and was very excited to have found a last minute place to park our RV. This place is exactly what we were looking for! We had a great view of Caribou lake, our daughters love swimming and were so happy there was a nice sandy bottom quite a ways out! We also enjoyed going out on our kayaks and sitting by the lakefront fire pit in the evening. The sunsets were amazing too! We planned on staying 2 nights but extended it a 3rd night because we loved it so much! It is a very cozy lakefront property with plenty of space to play

Cabins were old and rustic. Very clean and everything worked well. Owners are very accommodating. Pet friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back. We caught plenty of walleye and other fish.

Three family cabins, rented the same time each year (July-August) TEN YEARS in a Row! Lake is great fishing, cabins are clean and practical. The finest experience in "Vintage Living" - perfect for family togetherness, gamenights, yard sports and enjoying the Great Outdoors. Owners Sheryl and Dave are attentive hosts; our children have grown up on Caribou Lake Summers. Can't ask for more " Pure Michigan " than that!

Our family has been vacationing at Moosehead for many years! Great rustic cabins on beautiful Caribou Lake. Great beach and huge lawn to play all of our outdoor games! The location is private and peaceful. Owners Dave and Sheryl are great people.

Moosehead Lodgings is a very rustic set of cabins right on Caribou Lake's northern side, about 3 miles from the town of DeTour Village. (I was pronouncing it duh-toor, with a French accent, since everything up there is influenced by French Canadians, but alas, it's pronounced just like a regular ole dee-tour.)||When I say rustic, I mean rustic! We had Cabin 1, which had two porches, was right on the lake, 2 BR, 1 bath (teeny tiny) and looked to have been built and decorated in the 1950's. I don't mind rustic, but dirty, I have a problem with. I don't think the place is cleaned or aired out in between guests. I wanted to buy shower cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner and a good industrial strength vacuum cleaner and use them. We bought disposable plates, forks and cups to use so we didn't have to
