Canyonland Domes

I have stayed at a few different domes on this property and have enjoyed my experiences. The location is easy to get to from Monticello and then you can easily access amazing views, Newspaper Rock and Canyonlands. Dome #9 is my favorite with its glass windows, bathroom & shower inside and outdoor gas fire pit. Dome #7 is great for a family and friends with the loft sleeping area and included bathroom and shower. I had such a lovely and peaceful time when I stayed here over Thanksgiving. Interesting little stay in a hidden gem of an area. I would recommend!

This stay was an unexpected joy. We stayed in July, and while it was a bit warm, the dome has a cooler and the night cooled off nicely. The location is somewhat remote, which is a good thing. Nice stargazing, and a beautiful family of mule deer to watch out the dome window. Bathroom was just across from the dome, and we had a nice walk around the property in the morning before checking out. Next stay, I would definitely book a dome by the canyon. The views are spectacular. Fun and quirky property!

I recently stayed there for a night. If you are considering staying there, I recommend you do not as they are unethical and do not provide what they advertise. The domes are supposed to have this beautiful view of the wilderness and particularly the night sky. Those views are shown beautifully on the website. My dome had basically no view out of it, except maybe a fuzzy view of the ground outside. The windows were completely opaque due to disrepair and damage. After sunset, we sat for five minutes trying to see any view of the sky and could see absolutely nothing. I have added photos to show you what they advertise versus what you might expect. We went on a family trip with 6 people, we rented three domes (6, 7, and 8). I am going to start with the pros because I do think they did a lot right. PROS: - Dome 8 is by far the best, it has the clearest window and a beautiful view. - The domes are very cute and cozy, they are decorated very nice! - They have a lot of stuff to grill and have a mini kitchen which is more than enough. - We went in January and it was very cold, they had heaters inside the domes which kept the domes warm. Also the water in the shower was very hot which was good! You didnt have to wait for the water to heat up. CONS: - We stayed in dome 6, and it was so bad! We stayed 3 nights in Done 7 and were sad to leave. The location is great for daytripping. Having spent the last 3 decades tent camping in the desert, my husband and I thought we'd see what it would be like having a comfy bed and shower at night. Absolute heaven. Property is remote enough that you have privacy, the view from bed at sunrise rivals the outside views at sunset. The bathroom was clean and water was hot. The bed was comfortable and the domes was plenty spacious. The window in dome 7 has some damaged areas, which could be expected in a south facing dome in the desert, but did not detract from the views, just something to know if booking #7 so there are no surprises.
