I think the out of state surcharge is awesome. This campground is subsidized by the taxpayers of Massachusetts. Just like a state university, it should have a rate for in-state visitors and out of state visitors. ||It used to be nearly impossible to get a site here as a MA resident. Now it is more reasonable. Bravo! ||A great park and a great campground.

Unfairly priced. I'm from New Hampshire and we don't jack the price for out of state residents. Many new Hampshire residents work in MA and pay state income tax, but are still subjected to these higher prices. It's quite insulting. Camping used to be a pleasant affordable activity, now its just an opportunity to gouge people.

Camping area number two in Nickerson State Park is close to the lake and the beach at Nickerson State Park but this location is also surrounded by poison ivy so be warned. The people of the park or quite friendly and very helpful and the parkers has trails of various degree of difficulty crisscrossing the area.

I live in CT and have been visiting Nickerson SP for years on each annual visit. I missed 2020/2021 due to covid but on my return this year I was BLOWN AWAY that they increased the entrance fee for out of state visitors to $30. The Grand Canyon is $35. I truly thought it was wrong, I went into park office to inquire and was told they went up during covid (gouging if you ask me). MA residents pay $8. OMG, feels pretty discriminatory to me, they truly don't want me there. Honestly, it is a nice park but not at all worth $30 fee. Worth $10 to $15 tops. Buh bye Nickerson. Won't be staying in this area because of this park anymore. Too bad for towns of Dennis and Harwich.

Firstly, I am a MA resident who is embarrassed and ashamed of the high fees required for non MA residents. I agree with other reviewers that it is price gouging. Shame on us! Especially for boondocking...|We stay at Nickerson campground twice a year and have always found other campers to be quiet and respectful and the staff to be great. Please do not miss Crosby lane beach at low tide. Check at checkin booth for where to oark - gravel road immediate left after Crosby mansion|We attended the exterior tour of the Crosby mansion with Ranger Robert Peacock and cannot recommend it more highly. A most knowledgeable and skilled presenter. The DCR is lucky to have Ranger Peacock!|For calories - eat cake for breakfast and the snowy owl coffee shop are must stops.
