Camp Layman

Great weekend getaway! Rain kept us from enjoying the ping pong table and camp fire and fishing but was a wonderful, restful trip. The cabins are like a flashback in time, brought back memories of my husband's childhood. The Eureka mine is a must see, great history lesson. Great BBQ in Blairsden, where we discovered corn pudding, I will try to replicate. Over all wonderful weekend, will have to go again next year.

Our family has been going to Camp Layman since 1948 (if my mother-in-law tells her story about coming up to CL with her in-law's) but in recent years it's been the place for our family to reconnect. Three generations in our family rent cabins, fish, play, hike, cook, and relax together for 5 days. The memories we make are priceless. There is something for everyone to do, the cabins have nice amenities, the community BBQ and camp fire are a great way to end a fun filled day in the mountains. The separate cabins provide us all a little space & privacy, yet the community based amenities allow us all to be together when we want. We had a fantastic family reunion at Camp Layman, renting 7 of their cabins. The owners are just the nicest people ever. The camp was beautiful and well maintained. It's filled with many yard games like shuffleboard, horseshoes, ping pong, basketball, volleyball, etc, and even has a play structure. Cabins were stocked with all kitchen and bedding needs, clean towels for the shower, soap, pots and pans, plates, cutlery, etc. Very nearby river good for tubing, swimming, and fishing.

Going to Camp Layman is like getting back to our second home! My husband and I go there every year with our family, as soon as we see the sign to the camp we instantly feel at home again. Shelly and Dan (owners) feel like they are our long distant relatives, they are the best part of the camp! We have stayed in pretty much over half the 13 cabins and there is no place that we would rather go when we need a get away with family and friends or even alone. The cabins are beautiful and each unique in their own way. The property is perfect for kids, adults, well behaved dogs and everything in between! There is honestly no other place I would recommend more than here!

We had an excellent stay here on a rainy weekend. Absolutely silent at night which we loved. We woke up to unexpected snow, and the hosts were extremely helpful in helping us determine what our options were to get back home given road closures, mud slides and so forth. Property is next to the river and train tracks, so extremely scenic.
