Bunker Hill Ranch

I have been going to Bunker Hill for almost 30 years. It's not fancy yet It's the perfect place for kids. The river is beautiful and there are so many activities for kids. My children are in their 20s and they still love Bunker Hill.

First time visit- Why did I wait so long to visit this place? My Best Friend and I loved our cabin with no Internet connection or television. It was truly a place to decompress. Every morning and evening we relaxed on the screened in porch facing the river. The Spring Trail required water shoes as it had rained pretty heavy the night before. The trail had several small waterfalls leading to the spring where sat an old log bench. Buddy, a local and handyman at Bunker Hill, was full of old wise tales and knows a lot about the history of the area. Buddy said that his father had also worked at Bunker Hill. We just visited the managers and the grounds and the place is immaculate. It’s a deeply secluded bungalow type well maintain cabins and small houses on a hill. That rolls down right into the river. Below the hill is the river bank or beach and then this Crystal clear Jax Fork River was running in front of us people were Floating down the river while we were visiting. It was on a Sunday afternoon. Super beautiful well-maintained property almost a mile or more private road into the retreat center. Sweet mandarin simple road asphalt clean grass is groomed trees on both sides forest all around. Couldn’t ask for a better little retreat center. Matt & Stephanie run this incredible getaway in Southern Missouri. We go every year to canoe on the Jack's Fork River and call this place home for a few days. The breakfasts and dinners are good. And plenty of room to enjoy nature while there. Even though it makes me anxious, I appreciate not having cell or wifi while here. It really helps me to be more present and less distracted.

I have been to Bunker Hill with my partner's family many summers. Most of the cabins are very old. The old rooms are just adequate. They have some cabins with more modern interiors but some of them have clearly not been updated since they were built. It's not about luxury, it's about the Jacks Fork River and nature. The entire place feels like you stepped back in time but in a good way. It's the perfect place for family with kids. There are no TVs, just nature and an interesting property to explore. We always go in June and canoe/kayak down the Jacks Fork River. There are outfitters, but they won't always take you depending on water levels, so we bring our own watercraft just in case.
