Budges Wilderness Lodge

My son and I booked a wilderness tent camp elk hunt with Budges. It was a great experience, with awesome people, and many good memories. The camp was perfect with Ryan as our cook. He did an awesome job of keeping camp up and great food every day. Mike was our guide, and he did everything he could to put us on animals, however, he had limited intel on elk movement in the area and no information on trails or places to check for elk.( His first time guiding for elk in that camp). We spent 2 days just hiking around finding trails and sign. Hunting is about the experience not just shooting an animal, and although we never got a shot opportunity the whole time, it was a great hunt. My group of four, Son, Brother, Best Friend and myself had a wonderful experience with the team from Budges. I will emphasize that the last 8 miles of “road” leading into and out of the Lodge is very challenging and requires a high clearance, mud ready truck or similar vehicle. Even though my party wasn’t able to fill our tags for Bull Elk the adventure was amazing. The lodge team ensured we were comfortable and well fed. The wranglers expertly packed our gear on to the pack horses and settled us on to our mounts for the 3 hours ride up the steep trail to camp. Our camp staff of Grace ( camp chief/ cook ), and our guides Mike and Morgan were great professionals that provided that extra level of service. Budge's Wilderness Lodge is a terrific place for a top of the line hunting expedition. Location is perfect for Elk and Mule Deer. The staff is exceptional! Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is top notch. Each day was run with precision. Each person was cordial, caring and courteous. This trip was one of my "bucket list" items and I couldn't have chosen a better outfitter to meet and exceed my expectations.

Ryan has assembled a great team everyone was friendly and eager to help in any way. I had two of the best days of fishing I’ve ever experienced. My guide and wrangler Emma and Grace made sure I had the best horse for my experience level. Even though it had been years since I had ridden I felt comfortable and in good hands the entire time. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to top this trip or even equal it.

Budges is a wonderful experience. We went on a 2-day, 3-night guided fishing trip based at the lodge, where we would go out on horseback to the respective locations on the river. Shanna, our guide, was fantastic- incredibly knowledgeable of the river, the ecosystem, and most of all, where to catch some great cutthroat and rainbow. The wranglers, Morgan, Mike, and Grace were a huge help getting us in and out of the back country. And the food was excellent- hats off to Ruth and the crew. Ryan, the owner, was incredibly personable and service-focused as well. I highly recommend this trip.
