Buckshot Inn

After a 15-hour day of driving home from Christmas vacation, my husband and I decided to stop in Smith Center, Nebraska we thought it was bigger than it is. The Buckshot Inn was pretty much the only option unless we kept driving. I’ll be honest, we were nervous because of the reviews. My husband called while we were eating and they had a room available for us and our two dogs. They do check or cash only, which felt a little sketchy at first, but we were exhausted and needed sleep. Check-in was smooth and the two people at the front desk were genuinely friendly. The room was exactly what you’d expect from a non-brand motel, no fancy linens or towels. We usually look at reviews of motels when we travel. But a week ago we decided to stop at Smith Center ks. After doing some sight seeing we stayed at the Buckshot inn and lodge. We were bushed. had been driving all day and ready to get some much needed sleep. We checked in and the Lady that greeted us was so incredibly kind. She made sure the air was on and invited us to join the rest of the customers for the grill out and the music. Everyone that stayed at the motel was invited, and the food was amazing. Our 3 kiddos love playing the yard games and the music was a live country band. This is what life use to be like, our kiddos didn't want to leave. This is a great place if you need something in the middle of nowhere. Roku on the TV, which you have to pay for to stream it, and not included with your $75 room fee. There's no coffee pot or coffee in the rooms or otherwise, nothing to drink of at all not even if you needed water, but you do get an air conditioner/heater. Now, like I said, if you need something in the middle of nowhere, this place is for you. As it was for me.

Buckshot is under new management. Lost our first reservation, but got 2nd one taken care of thankfully. Credit card System is running out of Florence, OR. Room was cool, older style carpet, lodging, but decently cleaned. Had to ask for towels and shower curtain, and waited for staff to return from food run. They do leave notes with contact info and answer phones. Cheap room, decent quality, and friendly.

I looked at all the bad reviews and tried to avoid this hotel. I knew someone who had stayed here the week before. They were very satisfied. So I booked a room. We were pleased with the cleanliness. No roaches as stated in a review, yes I looked under the bed out of curiosity. They asked for cash -no cards. I asked for a receipt, the young lady gladly gave it to me. She said she had only been there a month. It looks like the rooms are slowly being updated as it is an old motel. I would stay here again.
