Buccaneer Motel

I absolutely love this place! Literally right across from the beach. The parking lot is a little tight but what isn't at the beach? The pool was sparkling clean.. I love how they have a kool deck instead of concrete so you don't burn your feet when walking around the pool. The owners were very helpful and friendly.. I also loved that they had tile in the rooms as carpet would be nasty. Easier to clean up all the sand. We stayed in room #23 and it was very spacious even the tub. Housekeeping was great also! We will definitely be staying at the buccaneer again! Thanks for everything!

We stopped here for a one night of beach fun, and were so pleased! The full kitchen is well stocked with plates, cups, silverware- even a scrubbing pad and oil can. The room was so, so clean, and smelled divine, with ample outlets and amenities. The staff was kind and helpful, offering great restaurants and advice for traveling. ||||The beach was right across the street and over a dune, nearly empty every time we visited. It was clean, as was the pool!||||Everything about this place was comfortable and quaint- beautifully decorated, conveniently located, and just adorable. Plus the price was perfect!||||The only downside, at all, was the shower didn't work- nothing to concern us!

This was our first visit to OBX so I didn't know what places were good. We were staying less than a week and we didn't plan it until a month ahead of time, so renting affordable houses were out. My number one priority was being close to the beach and most of the hotels were either booked or super expensive. I found the Buccaneer, and although the property is located across from the beach the price was way cheaper than all the other motels. We were super pleased with the Buccaneer. It's an older property, but it's well maintained. The owners were friendly and accommodating. The bathroom was tiny, but it was great having two beds, a pull out sofa, and a kitchen. Awesome motel and owner. It is an older motel and outdated quite a bit. Although it is outdated it is 'homey'. The rooms are outdated with paneling walls and older appliances with an 'older smell' to them. But, again, very comfortable and very clean. The beach access is private across the street. It is stairs which go that are rather steep and I would worry about younger children falling back into the roadway. The parking is tight, but that's to be expected. There is a 3 ft pool (all the way across), basketball goal, hammock, picnic area, wooden playground and a deck beside the pool. The lower level rooms have a sandy area outside each door which I thought was nice for children to play in. The owner is super sweet and made us feel welcome. Pulling into the parking lot, I wasn't expecting much. However my opinion quickly shifted. The room was very clean and much bigger than I would have thought. Tile floor inside which I could imagine makes it much easier to clean after guests have had their feet in the sand all day. A nice pool and even a basketball hoop in the parking lot. At under $100/night in summer, though after Labor Day, was more than reasonable. Not to mention the location, right across from the beach! Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again next year.
