Very beautiful 😍 spot to camp. The employees are very nice and helpful. I will be returning for camping and day visits as well 😁
This is the cutest little camp gound! We gave been twice this year. Both times, the campground areas has been very clean and well maintained. Our first trip, we were very fortunate and the water levels on Peace River were very low, allowing us to find lots of shark teeth and fossils. We were able to sit/kneel in the middle of the river. Our second trip, we brought our dog with us. Unfortunately, the water river was very high and storms made the water very murky. We were able to still find a few shark's teeth but stayed out of the water for the most part. Instead, we wandered the park and explored the trails, played frisbee and cooked out. We also had the opportunity to chat with the park hosts who were very kind and welcoming.
While a bit far out from route 41, it's worth the drive Plenty of parking and a great launch ramp , make this an easy putin for kayaks or small boats Showers and rest rooms help make it more pleasant. There are several 1 mile long walking trails, be sure not to park on raids leading to them Small picnic area and 30 or so camp sites for both rv's and/or tents . There is lots of current here do plan accordingly. Lots of birds or various kinds and several alligators.
Nice little camping spot. Small, but comfortable. Just enough convenience with the shower, the location, some lighting. Mixed usage, day use in same grounds by campground, but those folks are out by sunset. Pretty quiet. Well maintained: clean, neat, and the hosts change the trash bins daily too. Nice folks. Think it was Sarah I spoke with most. She does good work and is a friendly host. Very pretty with the shade trees, the moss, the river nearby. Great stargazing in the open areas. Couldn't find ANYTHING available state park wise from above Tampa down to Port Charlotte, and the other Peace River campground didn't work out due to sugar sand and no four wheel drive on my old sedan, lol, so it's a sweet little gem now to me. Current burn ban due to the dryness which is really the only downs
Great little campground by the river. Close access to fossil hunting, some fun rope swings over the river.
