Briarwood Inn

I really liked the little cottage we booked on Dolores. It has 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a room with a sofa, and was generally quiet. It boasted an ocean view but tbh, that’s kind of a stretch. It is just a couple blocks from the Main Street, ocean avenue. Unfortunately I do agree with several of the other guests that the service/ check in was not very pleasant. We arrived at 12:35 which I agree is early for check in, but we were hoping to park our car in the spot that was included with our reservation while we walk around. The office had a sign that said they would come back from lunch at 2:15 (so at least 1 hr 40 min lunch, must be nice). I called but the woman on the line was adamant that we could not park in the spot until after check in, even though the spot was obviously

We scheduled a stay on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. |We were three people, my two teenagers and I.|We stayd in the Stephenson 2 Deluxe Family unit- it has two rooms with a queen and a king bed and an additional bed in the living room. All very comfortable.|The kitchen is small but has everything you need. |The location is great, with on-site parking. |But they stood out by their honest service!|When we checked in, we learned that the power was out for the whole area due to a storm. We asked about a refund and were told that if we left, we would receive credit for a future stay. In the end, we stayed one of the two nights. We let them know we were leaving and were told they would process the credits when the power came back.||Without any further action on my part, they refunded the cost

Good choice for families and even single day of purchase is available. Highly accessible to the town centre yet quiet place indeed.

Best location .. walk half a block to the heart of Carmel. Charming exterior. My room had a nice balcony overlooking Carmel with a framed view of the ocean. No frills place .. not for those wanting updated, tasteful interiors. My room was big w/ a gas-burning fireplace, king bed, desk, dressers, and a sitting area with a small couch and chairs ... plus a glimpse of the ocean!! It was like going back in time when hotels didn't have hotelesque furnishings; grandma-type furniture but clean as a whistle. The receptionist was great; quick, friendly, and accommodating. If you leave for a walk on the beach and breakfast on the day of check-out, make sure they know you'll be back ... otherwise their very efficient cleaning staff might move all your things out of the room and clean it. Most rude treatment we have ever received at any "hospitality" business. We arrived at 2:15pm well aware that check in time is 3pm. Upon arrival no one was in the office, when the clerk did arrived we identified ourselves as guests checking in. The clerk very rudely responded "check in is at 3pm". In all our travels if we arrived earlier than the posted check in time we have always been treated as guests rather than an interruption to their day. If the room was not ready others simply checked us in and let us know that they would call or text us when the room is ready, the clerk offered neither accommodation.
