Bountiful Peak Campground

Nice campground nestled in the trees just off the road that has great views of Francis Peak. The campsites have metal picnic tables and large fire rings. There are vault toilets for your convenience.

The last 1/2 mile from the three way to campground entrance is rutted and rocky. Our 2011 Subaru Outback made it no problem if we took it slow. Water is not turned on as of 7/8/2024 and the outhouses have not been pumped out so they are still full with snow melt water. No eta in water being turned on or outhouses being pumped. Same holds true for the reservable group site.

Made it in a fwd car. Would be easy in an suv or truck. Has a fee. And pit toilets fire pit, table etc. is lacking on maintenance. But is better than no improvements at all. People camping here are sometimes sketchy. But most is normal.

Wish I could have stayed longer! Great for a fast camp. And a nice drive to get there. Watch out for other drivers it can get a little congested!

Checked out this site before booking it for Labor Day 2025. I barely drove up in a Acura MDX. With quite a bit of driving experience on old mine and logging roads (this road at parts was equally as bad). The last half of the drive is a washed out tight and nearly impassible road. Highly recommend taking a smaller offroad vehicle or a small vehicle with a lift. Beautiful area nice untouched camp ground very hard to get to. Bring a spare to your spare tire. Outhouse is unsuable. Forest service please improve the road its a cool camp site.
