My husband and I camped here for three days for our first tent-camp in, like, 25 years. The campground was pretty full but luckily no one set up on the other half of the area available next to ours, so we had a very, very peaceful and awesome stay. Their firewood is super cheap - two pieces for a dollar - and we had a fire pretty much the whole three days. They also sell ice, if you're running low, but that's a tad pricier. Its a ten minute drive from Mediapolis, and twenty from Burlington (home), so I made a trip the end of the second day for some more random supplies we needed. Four portable chargers lasted us pretty much the whole stay, just supporting our phones, a speaker, and a tablet. We made meals on the grill on our site both days. Super chill, super nice camp area. There is a gun
Fished a Bass tournament out there Sunday. Lots of trees and moss but a pretty nice lake. We always enjoy fishing there. Boat ramp is a little steep but manageable.
I like this lake, the death trees emerging from the water give me a good opportunity to take good pictures, a little challenging for kayaking, just be careful.
We stayed in the off grid cabin over Memorial Day weekend. What a wonderful experience it was! We chose the off grid cabin because there weren't any camping spots open but wanted to stay here. One of the things I love most is that this cabin was far away from the campground so it truly was like having a cabin in the woods experience with no one around. We couldn't hear any park activity... at all! Some notes: *Bring a thin air mattress or foam. The mattresses provided are hard. They are regular height beds so if you bring a really thick air mattress, you'd be up really high off the ground. *The solar lights work in every room and have light switches *Bring gallon jugs of water for dishes, etc. There is a cistern with hand pump but the water that is gathered is rainwater from the gutter
Awesome place to get away from the house. They have hunting, fishing, shooting range, swimming, an observatory and a model airplane field as well as camping. Plenty to do for the whole family.
