Big Hole River Retreat

Wonderfully peaceful and remote place to stay. But still very close to the interstate. I love staying further away from cities so it’s quieter, darker, scenic, and less radiation. Very clean and comfortable and cozy. And a solid kitchen.

Motana’s beauty and warm hospitality are some of the many reasons so many people have developed an affinity for this state. Lucky for us, the start of our journey led us to The Big Hole River Retreat. We stayed in the fisherman’s cabin and it was perfect! Everything was so clean and the cabin furnishings were beautiful! We especially enjoyed the owner’s tour of his amazing tractors. The hosts are extremely accommodating and genuinely friendly, down to earth folks. We loved staying there and will definitely return!!

After my husband caught the fly fishing bug in Montana we extended our time there for a quick overnight at the Big Hole Retreat. He “had” to fish the world famous Big Hole. The property is beautiful not just because of the location but also because of the effort the owners have put into embracing their love of farming and the great outdoors. They are a heartwarming great American family with a passionate love for their state and the nature that surrounds them. The cabin was clean, comfortable and equipped for cooking, grilling or sitting around the fire pit. Great mattresses, linens and plenty of hot water to warm you up after early morning fishing and accidental slips into the crystal clear icy river :) I’m not a big fly fisher but as a casual photographer I was willing to stay anot

Very well appointed cabins at a great price! We were surprised they had a/c along with dishes, pots and pans, etc. Even a dishwasher! The owners are onsite, in their own homes. Very lovely people. They will ride by in their golf cart and say hello and chat if you'd like but if not they are fine with keeping a distance. There's a river in walking distance but the mosquitos are everywhere so bring bug spray! Cabins slept my husband and I, another couple and kiddo on the futon in the family room. Beds were comfy as were pillows. Very happy with our stay overall.
