Big Bend Lodge

My husband has been going to Big Bend Lodge for 40 years (since he was a small child) and so it's been a touchstone of our lives for a very long time. We've also seen it evolve with new owners with new vision, and it's never been better than it is right now! The cabins all got a fabulous yet simple refresh, the communication is superb, the caretaker is available if needed but otherwise unseen. We cannot say enough good things about our time here—effortless magic for families, kids and adults alike. If you like easy river time, campfire sing-alongs, BBQ dinners, and the opportunity to recharge from modern life, we highly recommend giving Big Bend a try... but don't tell too many people, because it's the best kept secret of Mendocino.

We spent four days in Big Bend National Park! We broke the park into four sections and spent a day in each! Big Bend is huge! Driving takes a lot of time! When we left, we were glad we took the time to thoroughly explore each area! We highly recommend The Dinosaur Exhibit! It is one of the best dinosaur exhibits we have seen! We spent time birding in each campground picnic area. Saw Javelinas in the Rio Grande Village picnic area. We thoroughly enjoyed our Santa Elena hike! ||A last minute call to the Chisos Mountains Lodge secured us a room for one night. We had a room with two queen beds and a balcony. My family and I loved our time at Big Bend Lodge. The place is beautifully maintained and the surroundings are gorgeous. So nice to unplug for a while. The available newspaper, kindling, and firewood was a great touch. The resident kitty is a sweetheart too.

Big Bend Lodge is a unique property. Located on a bend in the South Fork of the Eel River, it consists of nine cabins - six one bedroom cabins that sleep 4 or 5 and 3 studios that sleep 3 or 4. Our group of family and friends rents out all nine cabins. It makes for a relaxing vacation. ||There are common areas for cooking and eating, and a fire pit for making s’mores and singing campfire songs. For the sporty there’s a basketball hoop and ping pong table and an excellent swimming hole down by the river, with rocks to climb and jump off of and rapids to ride on an inner tube. Fun to be had all around.

A wonderful locally owned cabin retreat. The cabins are fully equipped and very cozy. The river is amazing, I could have swam in it all day long. Warm water and slow current. They have tubes to play in. So glad I went!
