I never write reviews for places (good or bad) but this is one that we will definitely be coming back to! We car camped for the night and this was a gorgeous place to stay! They also have full bathrooms and showers that were very clean. We plan on coming back this summer :)
Sandy and Steve's hospitality were incredible. They were so kind, personable, welcoming and accommodating. My husband, 8 month old and I camped here last week. When I called, Sandy told me the winds were high. When we arrived she and Steve had scouted out good (less windy) spots for us so our baby could get some sleep. We really appreciated their thoughtfulness. The shower and bathrooms were clean. Beautiful view of the Sound and very peaceful. We will be back on a future OBX trip!
What a hidden gem! We needed a place to stay for a couple of weeks, wished there was a place closer to the Outer Banks but there wasn’t. |We’ll, this was the most pleasant surprise and we didn’t even miss OBX!! So peaceful and quiet and a lovely waterfront. We took our chairs everyday and sat at the waterfront with a beautiful breeze listening to the waves and watching the boats coming out of the Inter-coastal Waterway.; so pleasant! We didn’t swim but many of the others were swimming daily. The water is quite shallow for a very long way out.||Within a very short drive Is Morris Market, Pass The Salt Cafe, Coin Jock Marina, Frog Island Seafood and the free ferry to Knotts Island. ||This was the most relaxing time of our 5 month adventure!!!
Wonderful hospitality here! We were able to make last minute reservations to react to a mandatory evacuation from Hurricane Erin. This campground is very quiet. As the other review talks about issues with dogs, we didnt have any issues with our two dogs. Every dog we saw was on a leash. There are many long term people here - which we had very friendly and welcoming experiences with. There is an outdoor shower, restrooms, water, electricity and a dump station. Its definitely geared more toward long term but we still enjoyed our stay here and felt safe from the storm.
We've been to this campground 4 times now, and it has always been beautiful. The new owner has done some awesome renovations. We've never had problems bringing our dogs before this weekend. Unfortunately, we had FIVE different instances of unleashed, unsupervised dogs coming into our camp in two days. When someone came to retrieve two of the dogs, she made no effort to quickly contain her dogs, while we had to hold our dogs in the car and a tent. She also insulted us when we yelled for her to stop leisurely strolling to retrieve her dogs, because her dogs "were friendly" even though we let her know ours were reactive. A couple of the other dogs were owned by the neighbors, who routinely let their dogs loose. Overall a good location, but do not bring your dogs.
