Beautiful views of the valley, some good camping, and some easy to moderate hiking trails. The trails are well kept but are not marked well. We took a 1/2 mile trail, but went well past that as there was no clear directions as to where it split off or ended. Still, a serene area that boasts some beautiful views of the Mississippi River Valley below.

Very clean, peaceful campground with a couple neat overlooks over Mississippi River! Not overcrowded like most other campgrounds in summer - peace, and quiet, and lots of wildflowers! Butterfly garden in its sister unit as well!

Beautiful park, clean campground. Check length of site before selecting. Nice overlook and butterfly garden close from parking.

★★★★★ 5.0 Michael Smith · May 2023

Stayed in one of the first-come-first-served spots. Plenty of length for our rig and we could stay flexible even though campground is sold out for Memorial Day. Nice overlooks of the river and the locks. Worked really well when the lowlands and other campgrounds were flooded. Well kept and clean, modern bathrooms. Update 2024: same spot, campground still looks great! Not too busy.

The Dyas Unit of Bellevue State Park Iowa is not only a treasure for campers, but also provides amazing hiking trails for all skill levels. The trails are unique and challenging at times, as you follow the deer paths through the woodlands. The Blue and Yellow Trails give a unique view of hillside paths in the north and west side of Dyas Park, while the Bluff Trail follows the east Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. If you just need a relaxing and shorter hike, the Deer Trail is fun for all and quite popular with children. This peaceful park is located 2 miles south of our beautiful Nelson Unit and provides hookups and accommodations for campers. Firewood is available during spring, summer, and fall.
