Belleayre Mountain delivers the kind of midweek ski experience that feels almost like a well‑kept secret in the Catskills. Visiting for the first time, I was struck by how effortlessly the day unfolded. No lift lines anywhere, not even at peak hours, which gave the entire mountain a relaxed, unhurried rhythm that’s increasingly rare in the Northeast. Equipment rental was impressively smooth—fast, friendly, and handled by staff who seemed genuinely enthusiastic about getting guests on the snow. The food options are serviceable, slightly better than a school cafeteria, but what the dining lacks in culinary ambition, the staff more than makes up for in warmth and helpfulness. Everywhere you go, people greet you with the kind of politeness and energy that sets the tone for the whole resort.
A wonderful mountain with a very clean lodge and a pleasant bar and seating area. The mountain offers a good amount of variety in trail difficulty; however, being a ridgeline mountain, many of the trails are relatively straight, with limited twists and turns. There are a few longer runs that traverse nicely and are especially enjoyable, though they are in the minority. The trails are wide and roomy, and even with tickets sold out at capacity, the slopes never felt crowded. With plenty of chairlifts spread throughout the mountain, crowds were well dispersed, and wait times never exceeded eight minutes. This is an excellent mountain for beginners and skiers looking to progress to the intermediate level. While some black-diamond trails are fairly steep and feature moguls, they transition into
This ski resort is really great in every aspect, except that it closes a bit early, at 4 pm. The Guest Service center here is newly built, there are many lifts, and the equipment rentals are very clean. All the necessary facilities are available. Except for major holidays like Christmas, when it's a bit more crowded than usual, there aren't usually many people skiing. This is very important for people who truly want to enjoy skiing; too many people make it feel more like a place for taking photos for Instagram rather than enjoying the sport itself.
I came here with some friends for our first time ever skiing. After we parked in the free parking lot, we walked to the discovery lodge to check in and pick up our rental equipment. We were provided with ski boots, skis, ski poles, and helmets. We also rented out a locker to put our belongings. We bought the beginner lesson package for $145 and we were put in the same small group (5 people) with one instructor. The lesson took about a total of 2 hours (9:30-11:30am). The instructor, Warren, did a pretty good job at explaining to us the basics of how to ski as a beginner. He was funny and tried his best to make sure we were all keeping up and understanding his directions. I was able to pick up on how to ski after about an hour and half into the lesson. Once the instructor time was over, we
Loved it! The beginner practice area is a bit small (especially during peak times), but it’s still enough to get comfortable on the board, practice balance, stopping, and gentle turns before hitting the longer runs. Pro tip: go early or on weekdays for more space.
