Bears Den

I was hiking the Roller Coaster section of the Appalachian Trail and found this place to be a great place to stay. The bunk was comfortable, and the price was good for a night. The people were friendly and helpful here. It was really close to the trail for me. Someone made coffee in the morning, and I made pancakes with the ingredients provided. I like the layout of this place. Lots of areas upstairs to gather with the bunk room downstairs. Bathroom in the bunk room area makes it convenient. I will stay here again when I am back in the area.

Bear den cottage is a cottage and not the same as bear den Appalachian trail hikers hostel. ||It can be booked at PATC site, it’s about .5 miles track to the cottage from parking. It’s well maintained the only thing is bring your own water and bedding. The cottage maximum capacity is 8 people with bunk beds for 7 and loft for a queen size for sleeping. ||The toilet is outside but well maintained. If you like outdoors ans mountains it a good for spending weekend with tracks for hiking and about half mile track to bear den outlook or view point .||The cottage has all you need just bring your food to cook. There is a deck for outdoor sitting area with view but fog may restrict your view.

The historic trail isn’t blazed well which made it a little confusing giving the fall colors. Overall really nice trail with lots of rocks and great views. There is a rest area for backpackers, picnic tables and a privy. This is not a hotel, not sure why those questions are listed.

Been there to see sunset. Beautiful view. You can reach the sunset view easily by walking towards right side after parking ($3 contribution for parking) or walk towards left and do a small hike to reach the rock overlook sunset view.
