Bear Lodge Motel

Having enjoyed the glorious nearby Bearlodge Mountain Resort cabin two years prior, I phoned in a reservation at the Bear Lodge Motel while on the road, at first assuming it was the same place. ||While the courtyard view cannot be considered a view unless you like looking at cars and motorcycles, the staff was great and the room very clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was better than the higher-priced hotels we’d been in, served in a room adjacent to the front desk with numerous mounted animal heads making it look like a small hunting lodge. ||Sundance is a very quiet little town, with more bars than much else, a well-stocked little grocery store, and the wonderful Uncle Louis’ restaurant that serves very good breakfast all day. A great value - this is an older motel very clean and well-kept. My room had a shower that seems to have been recently updated with lovely wall tile. It was also nice that the tub had a sloped back for soaking rather than the vertical back style so prevalent in motels. I called ahead because I knew I would be arriving after 10pm and the desk clerk kindly took my reservation information over the phone so I didn't have to deal with a website while driving, and left the key for me because I was (as I had anticipated) arriving after the office closed. Coffee was better than the typical breakfast buffet stuff, I didn't get a full look at the breakfast food but I did notice Pop Tarts and Nutri-Grain bars amongst the offerings.

Positive: Location to courthouse and restaurants. Negative: The hotel lobby wasn't open at 7am to get coffee. So we walked to a near by restaurant for breakfast and coffee.

So first and foremost I want to say thank you again to the gentleman/ owner for coming out and helping me out and to the sheriff deputy for helping me out as well, long story short I booked a room here and when I got here I didn’t realize they were on their winter schedule and the fact that Verizon of all carriers services were out in the area being you need to call the owner to get checked in, so without service I was able to track down a passing sheriff who then called the owner and let me tell you, I must have apologized a dozen or so times and the owner was the most understanding, un judgmental, and helpful person I’ve met by far. As for the hotel yes it’s a little older but it’s cozy, quiet, and reasonably priced, 10/10 would recommend staying here while traveling and thank you to bot

Came to seek shelter from a winter storm. Cozy, clean, really soft sheets, warm shower, good water pressure! Spacious room too! I’d stay here again if I’m ever in the area.
