Bear Garden Hiker Hostel

I stayed at the Bear Garden Hiker Hostel for 2 nights in May, and had a wonderful stay both times. It is a hiker hostel, so obviously the accommodations are not like a luxury hotel, but Bear Garden is clean, comfortable, and a great place to stay. There were showers, a mini kitchen with a store, and a spacious bunkroom. There was even a hiker chapel on property for those wanting a quiet place to reflect, read, or pray. The hosts, Bob and Bert, were extremely caring individuals who take great care of their guests. I have enjoyed many conversations here with the hosts, as well as other hikers. I did a section hike on the AT in May, and used the Bear Garden as my end point. There is parking a couple hundred of feet away from the property. Stayed one night here while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Bob and his wife were very accommodating.

Bert and Bob were very hospitable and great. They are down to earth and kind. The s’mores cereal was so tasty 🤘🏼 Warm shower, laundry, fast WiFi. I’d stay here again if I was hiking the AT.

A fantastic respite for any Appalachian Trail thru hiker or section hiker! Bob and Roberta truly make you feel at home. They also provide excellent slack packing opportunities. I will never forget their kindness during my 2021 thru hike.

This is a great Hostel. Bob and Bert met us when we arrived. Showed us the accommodations and went over our schedule for the next day since we were shuttling with Bert. They have great knowledge of trail conditions in the area. The Hostel was clean and accommodating. Plenty of room with comfy couch and chairs. Lots of choices for food and drinks. Stuff to eat while there and more to take on the trail. Shower house and Chapel on site. Ask about the Marathon challenge. I didn’t make it this year but I WILL eat Bert’s cake next Labor Day weekend.
