Barnes Park Campground

This campground is really nice, the staff are great and they do a really good job taking care of the place and keeping it clean. They have ice and firewood available. Make sure to bring plenty of fire starter as the wood tends to be a bit on the green side. There is a nice beach here too. The campground is pet friendly but pets are not allowed on the beach which is a plus for me.

We weren't camping, but are staying nearby and accessed the Lake Michigan beach through the campground. Wonderful! Nice sandy beach with a wide view of the lake, and a shallow staircase all the way down, so easy access for families. The trees back right up to the beach, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The campground has restrooms and coin operated hot water showers for those who want them, plus a faucet at the top of the beach stairs for washing off sandy feet (much appreciated!).

The sites are nice, shaded with lots of trees. The access point to the beach is really nice as well. Was not a fan of having to pay to shower. I didn’t see that advertised and I’ve never been to a campground that charges you to shower. 50c for 5 minutes of hot water which isn’t a lot but it’s not ideal. There are only 2 bathrooms on site for the entire campground and there were multiple times where we trekked the walk to a bathhouse only for it to be closed for cleaning, and the shower was still dirty after. There is firewood and ice available.

Great little campground! Lot 60 is huge with a nice little walk down right to lake Michigan! Showers were nice. Not too many rules like some other campgrounds. Firewood was a bit pricey $6.50 for 5-6 pieces of wood. Would definitely come back!

I love this campground. We've stayed here twice now and both times it's been great. The camp spots are nice, the bathhouse is clean, and there's a really nice beach.
