My wife and I decided on a night away. What a great choice , we so loved the laid back atmosphere , beautiful old decor well maintained ! Met Owen , didn’t get a chance to meet his wife, they do an amazing job ! super nice and welcoming , their dog Leroy is a bonus , cute and friendly nice part of the staff ! Our room was perfect and clean . We went downstairs and ate at their small restaurant which was so cozy with the fire place and well maintained historic building ! The food was incredible , it says 3 stars if give 5 …delicious and well presented . Had coffee and homemade goodies for breakfast in their quiet sitting room /library that were incredible ! We will revisit for sure !
So happy about the new menu! We’ve been really disappointed the past few years by the menu - odd combinations of food (chicken and grapes in cream sauce? no thanks), totally different from how Barncastle used to be, and not the kind of food our family (and many other locals) want to eat. The new Italian inspired menu is a much better fit for our community and harks back to the days of the delicious spinach and apricot salad. Good move, Barncastle folks.
Very cool place to stay and to eat! Historic building, yet very comfortable and clean. Great to have such a terrific restaurant on site! Very popular, so make a reservation for dinner. Staff was attentive. Great breakfast. Fun cocktails.
The new Italian winter menu is super. Hats off to the owner / chefs. The food was delicious and refined and complex and interesting without being fussy, the portions were perfect, my cocktail was killer, and the desserts were to die for - especially the passion fruit curd panna cotta. I usually like my panna cotta plain jane, but the cream part was perfect, the sweet-tartness of passion fruit was surprising, and the fresh mint brought, well, freshness. There were three of us and we shared everything, which is definitely the way to go, since it’s impossible to choose just one thing. If you haven’t been here yet, go. The owners haven’t made any changes to the historic interior - it’s as charming as it was when I first ate there 19 years ago. Oh, yeah, and there’s a super chill Saint Be
This was our 27th anniversary trip and staying here exceeded our expectations!! Owen and Lizzie are awesome. Leroy their dog is a sweetheart. The food and accommodations were perfection. I would give this place 6 stars if I could!!!
