Barn Door Hostel and Campground

I stayed in the 10 men room. It was actually really well done, and the common area felt like home. People who come here and friendly and adventurous, and always down for a good conversation. Dave and his wife, Jill, are excellent hosts, and they are a cornerstone of the community. When I was there, they organized a winter film festival which showcased some really well crafted films about backcountry and telemark skiing. Absolutely awesome place.

We had a great experience camping at the Barn Door Hostel! Dave is fantastic and gave us great recommendations for climbing routes for the next day! The campsite at Barn Door Hostel has everything that you need and is stunning. A bonus is that we were able to make a great fire. Dave also gave us a sneak peek of the new hostel opening up in the next couple weeks, and I can't wait to come back here in the summer! It will most definitely be an excellent place to build a community and make friends with other climbers.

Barn Door Hostel has to be one of my favorite places to stay when coming up around the White Mountains. I have been several times and each time the Owner, Big Wave Dave has made our group feel welcomed and is always a joy to see! The rooms are kept clean and orderly, just enough space to recharge for the next adventure, as well as the living space has an amazing atmosphere and just a great general flow. Kitchen area is nice and spacious and the bathrooms are kept clean! We have also had some events done here so if you have a big group of friends and looking for a great place to stay then look no further!! They also have some amazing events going throughout the year so I highly recommend giving this space a visit. Cant wait for when we take another trip here! Always love seeing Goose runn

I can't write about the rooms as I've never used one. However, if the foyer, customer service, attention to comfort, general care and providing a comforting vibe is what you're looking for... this IS the place. The tent/RV camping areas are well maintained and politely/discretely checked on throughout the day. I'm pretty sure I've never had a more attentive and peaceful lodging space ever (and I've had a lot over a half century). The owners are kind, professional and most importantly CARING about your experience. On a scale of 1-10... I give this a 12. Also, they have Goose. And he makes the whole experience so, SO much better.

The Barndoor Hostel is an experience in itself. VERY comfortable setting. I have stayed here, probably, over ten times now. It is located VERY close to Waterville Valley, Cannon, Tenney and a few other ski locations. Very close to legendary climbing locations and other cool places to explore. There are countless backpacking/hiking loops and trails all in very close proximity to Rumney, NH. Mt. Mousilauke is a short drive from the hostel as well, which is an epic hike that can be done in a day. Typically, I stay in the inexpensive rooms (low $40's in eight/ten bed rooms), but when with my wife, we get a private room (under $100). The common area is HUGE and has plenty of elbow room, even if it sold out. I stayed here for the eclipse a couple years ago. It was sold out, but still NOT cramp
