Bamboo Inn On Hana Bay

We stayed in the Iwa suite at this lovely Inn located in the heart of Hana. The inn is a short walk from a black sand beach and has spectacular views of the sunrise each morning.||The room is spacious with a small kitchenette and has a deck with amazing views of the ocean. We enjoyed coffee on the deck watching the sunrise each morning! A/C? Who needs A/C? The ceiling fan does a lovely job of keeping the air moving in the room! There are no drapes on the windows but there is still a lot of privacy and it is another way to enjoy the first rays of sunlight each morning.||The big chain resort down the street charges $750+ per night and doesn’t even have waterfront access! We ended up at Bamboo Inn in Hāna unexpectedly after getting rained out while camping during some extreme weather, and we are so grateful we did! Maylea, the assistant manager, was truly one of the kindest people we’ve ever met while travelling. They happened to have a cancellation for their most expensive room (which was deff out of our budget), and instead of just leaving it at that, she went above and beyond to help us. She offered to call around to friends, suggested other places we could check, and genuinely cared about making sure we had somewhere safe and comfortable to stay. In the end, we decided to book there, largely due to her kindness, but she didn’t stop there - she even spoke with the owner to see if they could offer us a small discount given the circumstances and how last

There were 3 dogs on the property, 1 of them loose. For people who are deathly afraid of dogs, this is a vacation nightmare. The staff did accompany me to my room, which was nice of her, but going back to get stuff from my car later, I had to wait for other guests. Didn't feel like I could come and go freely so checked out after my 1st plan the next day. Also encountered the same guests the next morning so I was able to go to my car. Having the dogs helped in making people feel secure about their car parked outside, but it's slightly creepy since the showers are outside too. The room is clean enough, but there were a lot of ants on the dresser, sink, and wall. Tub was good, but none of the jets worked. It wasn't a jacuzzi then, just a big tub good for 2 people. First, I would like to say how nice the owner John was to us. We spoke to him before driving the Road to Hana about the weather and he was extremely pleasant. However, as far as the accommodations were, that is another story...We stayed in the Honu Suite , which was very small and quaint. The view to the beach was great and the path there was an easy walk. That is where the one-star comes from. Everything else was terrible. Let's start with the booking price. There is a charge for staying only one night, $30 extra, which was buried on their website but not reflected in our booking bill. We were not charged with it until we checked in. It took a dramatic drive to Hana, but it was absolutely worth it. We stayed in Iwa; the suite is clean and modern, and the view is epic! You get to experience wild nature while staying in total comfort. I will come back again for more nights next time I’m in Maui.
