Babler State Park Campground

Great camping especially considering it is within a metro area. Quiet. Clean. Wooded. Nighttime sounds included howling coyotes, hooting owls, scrambling raccoons and deer trotting through the woods. Perfect for us. Camp Hosts were super helpful. Firewood was very reasonable. Reservations and check-in was easy.

I believe they just recently renovated the grounds. There are new concrete pads everywhere. The grass hasn’t quite grown back yet. The paved walking trail is really nice. There’s a lot of space between the RVs, which is nice. The campground host was helpful. It’s in a cute little side of town.

We took our RV there for 2 nights. The new full hookups are nice with concrete pads.

Best campground I stayed at out of the three I went to stayed in lot 38 and everything was great big flat spot fire pit built into the patio was awesome

It feels remote but it's relatively close to St Louis. From the park entrance back to the campground it actually takes 5 minutes if you obey the speed limit. It's a big park! The little hills into the campground from the main park area are a little steep, but we managed fine except for the last day when we were leaving and had to stop halfway up for some deer to cross. It took a bit of engine revving to finish the hill climb from a dead stop on the hill. 50/30/20 power pedestals at the sites. No water or sewer. Unfortunately we could only reserve 1 night in the same site. We found 2 sites across from each other (41 and 48) so we had to do a switcharoo the 2nd day.
