Axtel Campground

Axtel is our favorite campground on the lake. Most sites have an amazing view. There's a boat ramp and marina right across the road and several really good restaurants within a 5 minute drive.

My family, friends, and I have camped at Axtel four times this year and love everything about it! The man that runs it is nice, the campground and beach are clean, and the bathrooms are always stocked well. The sites offer a fire pit, picnic table, and hanger for trash (to keep the animals away). There is also a playground and on holiday weekends they do fun events for the families!

On Rough River Lake, COE controlled. Very good selection of sites both on and off water. Down side since recent cut backs no control on parking on grass. Trash left at sites yet that is from users that don't respect nature and clean up after themselves.

Bathroom in area we were in was not open (needed repairs) the whole time we were there. It was very inconvenient to get to another bathroom. Can't get in lake by campsite

I love site #79. No electricity or water. So close to the water so kids can play in it non stop. Not much shade. Great place to fish, swim, kayak right off your site. 2 of 3 women's showers broken - one had standing water, the other had caution tape.
