Avon Motel

We stayed here over Thanksgiving to visit family that lives in the area. Pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness. We just needed a place to sleep, since meals would all be spent elsewhere. The rooms had everything we needed and a very comfy bed. Nothing fancy, but well appointed for us. ||The only downside is that the walls are thin. Fortunately, our neighbors were here to fish and not party. ||Quaint and perfect for fishermen or an overnight beach getaway.

I have been visiting the OBX for years and this may be my favorite place to stay. Between renting houses, hotels and camping, this felt the best. I love the color of the exterior and the little sandy sitting/grilling area. Each room has a chair to sit in on the porch, you can see most of the sunset, but if you want to see the entire sunset, drive ten minutes south. The beach is less than five minutes away. Yes, you have to walk through and over the dunes, there are plenty of paths. The AC was great, and there is a cute nook for a microwave and coffee. Room also came with a working mini fridge, I did not try to turn on the TV. Come to Avon Motel if you want to get away from technology and want a pure experience. Come for the beach. My wife and I wanted to getaway to the Outer Banks for a few days. We booked four days at the Avon Motel. We were in a deluxe king room that had been recently remodeled. There is a covered porch that runs the length of the building and chairs outside your room. The room was very nice. Clean quiet, and comfortable. It has a nice common area with park grills, but it was too hot and windy to really enjoy it. The staff was great too. Very friendly and pleasant. The walk to the beach isn't bad either. They give you a free bag of ice every day, and they have laundry facilities on site. Even had an ice cream truck come through the compound one night! If you're looking for an economical getaway for a few days, it's a good choice.

Huge THANK YOU to Trey at Avon Motel. We were in a bind with our departure date aligning with unfortunate road closures and ferry closures due to weather and storm wash-out; Trey got us a great room for a full day and night at a great price. The room was clean and well equipped, very close to the beach, quiet at night...couldn't ask for more. Our entire family appreciates all of the staff at Avon Motel. We will surely visit again.
