Avalon, the Inn on Cuttyhunk

Great spot to unwind and enjoy the views. It is a large house with numerous bedrooms, large kitchen, and lots of space to unwind. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves. The housekeeper was helpful with directions and spots to eat. I think the only thing in advance that people might like to know is that the rooms are adjoining and there are no keys or locks. I felt a little bit like I was at summer camp. If you had a large group that was looking for an awesome spot I would strongly suggest!

This was our third stay at The Avalon on Cuttyhunk, which speaks volumes. The innkeeper, Tamalin, as well as Daisy and the rest of the staff, go above and beyond to ensure that you have everything you need for a fantastic stay. You are put at ease from the moment that you book your trip, as the staff takes care of or assists with all of the details, such as golf cart rentals, and reserving boat slips at the marina. ||||The accommodations are beautiful, spacious, and clean. The artwork, primarily paintings done by the innkeeper, Tamalin, are reason alone to visit the Avalon, as her stunning landscapes and portraits are museum quality and you feel like you are vacationing in an art gallery. Who knew you could drive into New Bedford (no Cape Cod traffic mayhem), board a small ferry for an hour ride, and arrive on a 1x2 mile bump of sand within sight of Martha's Vineyard? The Avalon is a magnificent old hotel/inn with wifi and walking access to all the charms of this sweet, laid-back island. The inn is very quiet and peaceful, beautifully furnished, and very comfortable. Bring layers of clothes; sometimes it's hot, sometimes cold, as any island will be. There are lots of trails to explore, the historical society, library and fishing pier, a couple restaurants. BYOB. A friendly place to visit, and did I mention quiet? Relax. Enjoy.

Our stay was fantastic. I love the Avalon as I knew I would. Actually it was even better than expected! I loved the communal kitchen, the beautiful and plentiful pots and pans, dinnerware and all the amenities...the ice machine was key on the hot weekend + the gas grill. Terrie and Ellie were fantastic, helpful, hardworking and the inn was spotless. I stayed in the Library.|| A word to the wise, I've been visiting Cuttyhunk for over 50 years. If you're looking for anything more than a gorgeous, small, simple, "dry" island (no bars, no liquor licenses, BYOB) find another spot!
