I was in loop A in September. This was mine and my husband's first time there. For us it was an amazing experience. Just to see the horses in their natural environment was amazing. The horses would walk right into your campsite without a care. No electric or water at campsites , but it is really worth the time to go There is a couple hiking trails to walk,
We love this place so much it is the best place in the world. The trails the beach the bay the night skies. You just can't beat it. Oh of course, THE HORSES!!! This place is magical. Camp here every year sometimes multiple times a year. Always suggest getting the yearly pass.
National park with no hookups for RVs but still absolutely beautiful. Tent sites and RV sites. Restroom and shower are available and the toilets are no flush. The horses roam free here and have total right of way. Staff were great very friendly and helpful. Nice trails for hiking and exploring. Very quiet camping, though the park was full there was no noise.
I’ve long been a fan of the Assateague National Seashore. My recent visit reaffirmed my love for the place. I camped at an Oceanside walk-in site (not a long walk) and loved hearing the ocean as I fell asleep. There are restrooms and cold showers, all nicely maintained. The Bayside campground, which I toured, was beautiful and well kept, too. And the wild horses were a comfortable, magical part of the experience.
Camped here on the ocean side one night in early May—it was so beautiful. We had no issues with bugs or horses. Setting up the tent with the wind was a bit of a challenge, but we adjusted with some patience and creativity. If you’re used to easy camping with lots of amenities, you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re looking for more rustic tent camping where you walk a bit, it’s a unique and beautiful experience. My only complaint was the smell in the latrines. It would be much improved if there were signs telling people to leave the lids down.
