Americas Best Value Inn Las Animas

We tried to stop here. The second you walk in it reeks of cigarette smoke. The room was incredibly disgusting and everything in it was in very, very poor condition. Upon lifting the sheets up, which had many cigarette burns on them, we found fleas. I feel bad but, this place should not even be in business. The worst part is we paid for the room and they wouldn’t give us a refund 5 minutes later. Just bad business all around.

This was once a very nice property. The owners have thrown tons of money into the bar in a place where everyone pretty much drinks beer. The menu for the restaurant is very sophisticated, mostly Thai food, and would go over well in a large city. Meanwhile, the booths are split and cracked. The continental breakfast was very poor. The milk and yogurt were not kept cold, just set on the table in glass jugs and a plate. The place just does not seem very clean. There are weeds everywhere. The room itself was clean enough and had nice towels, but the common areas really need some work.

This used to be a Best Western and it was great. Now, not so much. Needs updating. Long black hair in bed, really cheap soaps and shampoos, no more restaurant and bar but there was a continental breakfast. Staff was tired but accepted my request to print out something if I emailed it to them. Clerk left shift before getting it done so we had to ask next clerk. It finally got done and delivered to our room, which was a pleasant surprise. Heater works great. Micro and fridge in rooms. Bedding is thin. TV is nice but stations are really fuzzy. Apparently, this is a 420 friendly hotel because we smell it everywhere. I think it says everywhere NO SMOKING so I have not really figured that out yet. I wish this was the hotel it used to be but I guess the economy here is not great.

I used to stay here three or four times a year on business. I had not been here in a couple of years. I came back. It felt very comfortable.||The room was very nice. Good bed. Great A/C. Very clean. ||The pool is no longer open. I don’t think it will be working any time soon.||The biggest problem is the first floor hall. It has a terrible Oder. I’m not sure what that is. It’s not mold. Anyway it’s been there for several years. The hall carpet is at-least thirty years old.||The good news is the smell does not bother the room.||The place is very safe. I have never had any problem staying here winter or summer for over twenty years.||

The owner, Troy, is a very professional and kind person. I rented a room for 28 days. The room with me and cleaned the housekeeper was a kind lady, she didn't speak English so she had her little daughter translate for her, which was beyond cute! But other than that my experience was good.
